To kick off the blog on our website. I am going to write a series on the who, what, why and where of Kinetic Sports Medicine and Performance. Today, we will start with the what.
Kinetic Sports Medicine and Performance began as a dream of Lauren and mine almost 5 years ago. We wanted to create place that supported the unique needs of Athletes. We began with our mission statement:
Helping Athletes Return to Play and Maximize Their Performance
This is the core of what Kinetic Sports Medicine and Performance is and why it exists.
As physical therapists, we specialize in assessing each individual athlete and laying out a plan for their rehabilitation. This can vary from an acute minor injury (ankle sprain, muscle pull, or nagging “jumpers knee”) all the way to a longer rehabilitation from an ACL surgery, a rotator cuff tear or an Achilles tendon rupture. This background really helps us see the big picture and lay out the overall plan.
As athletic trainers, Lauren and I have both stood on the sideline and supported athletes in the day to day routine of a season, and watching athletes perform on game-day. We appreciate the importance of getting back to practice, getting ready for a game when you are sore or hurting, and the challenges of navigating a long competitive season. This background also helps us to understand the demands of the sport you want to get back to, which lets us lay out a better rehabilitation program.
“As physical therapists, we specialize in assessing each individual athlete and laying out a plan for their rehabilitation.”
As Strength and Conditioning coaches, we can appreciate the importance of the physical qualities (strength, power, endurance, etc) that make athletes great. It also gives us experience in appropriate loading and training philosophies to help you regain your strength, power and endurance during rehabilitation.
We think that our combination of backgrounds gives us a unique perspective to best serve the needs of the individual athletes that we support.
We support athletes of a wide range of skill levels from professional athletes, to college players, to youth and high school player, or the adult that still loves to compete on the weekends or chase fitness goals. We find we can help athletes with three general goals:
We look forward to supporting the athletes around the greater Milwaukee area return to play and maximize their performance!
