High School Sprints Coach Jerome Missiaen
50:42

Today we are joined by Muskego High School Head Girls Track Coach Jerome Missiaen. Jerome is the girls sprints and hurdles coach. He has led the team to multiple conference and regional titles over the years.

Today Jerome and I discuss:

  • What led him to become a coach as well as his background as a teacher
  • He talks about his coaching philosophy
  • The importance of understanding body mechanics and building on them progressively to move the body well.
  • The importance of quality training versus quantity training, especially when dealing with an action such as sprinting that causes neural fatigue
  • How he builds an athlete up over the course of 4 years
  • He shares about his approach to positivity and how that helps you perform as a athlete!
  • And much more

I really enjoyed this conversation with Jerome and I feel that what he shares about his philosophy on coaching and biomechanics can apply to more than just training to be a sprinter or hurdler!
