Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy
Pelvic Floor, Pregnancy, and Postpartum Physical Therapy
What You Need to Know
Pelvic Floor
What if you didn't have to deal with leaking, heaviness, or pain? All these things are common, but we can play a large role in helping you live your life without these inconveniences. We provide care for urinary incontinence, painful intercourse, urinary frequency and urgency, diastasis rectus, pelvic organ prolapse, and more. The root of the problem is oftentimes multifactorial, not just one thing. We treat the whole person, not just the pelvic floor!
Pregnancy
Dealing with aches and pains? Do you want to know how to scale or modify your workout to stay in the gym during pregnancy? We can help guide you through your pregnancy journey to keep you in the gym and help prepare you for returning to the gym and daily life postpartum.
Postpartum
Every woman is different. There are general time frames in which women return to lifting and running, but every woman's journey and time of return is different. We will make sure you are physically and mentally ready to return to your desired recreational activities. Whether it's pelvic health concerns, when and how to return to your desired workouts/exercise, or just daily aches and pains associated with caring for little ones, we've got you covered!
Pelvic Floor, Pregnant and Postpartum Athlete Roadmap
Here's how it works:
-
Step 1: Assess and Train
-
Step 2: Teach and Train
-
Step 3: Load it!
Step 1: Assess and Train
Assess and Train Awareness, Range of Motion, and Strength for the Movement or Task
The first thing we need to do is find the root of the problem. Is it a strength, coordination, or timing issue? By first identifying where the deficits are we can better target our action plan.Step 2: Teach and Train
Teach and Train Proper Bracing Techniques Relative to the Task and the Load of the Task
Step 3: Load it!
Load it!
We need to accumulate sub-threshold volume. The pelvic floor is just like any other muscle. We need to train and load it to be able to handle heavy loads in the gym, as well as daily stressors.
